Christian College of Southern Africa executive director Dr Margaret Mbizvo met journalism students yesterday to address their petitions and concerns over the institution’s board of association.

The meeting was scheduled following a demo by the students last week demanding the College Board members to address the board issue.

Mbizvo, assured the students that association with Midlands State University was now in the final stage.

The executive director said, “We are expecting assessors from the Midlands State University to visit the college on 10 may to finalize the pending association issue.”

Mbizvo said, “They were supposed to come last Friday but were disrupted by the Zimbabwe international trade fair.”

The director also highlighted that the CCOSA Diploma, without association, is good enough. She said “CCOSA is a strong brand that is really a force to reckon with “

However, students raised the Zimbabwe Chair regulation issue where it is now crucial for colleges to associate with bigger institutions.

The board association issue was caused by the breached contract with Zimbabwe Open University sometime last year.

The director said the contract with ZOU was not sustainable citing charges that the institution was supposed to pay per student.

CCOSA has been a leading institution in training journalists since 1976. The institution is currently trying to rejuvenate after facing various challenges for the past few years.
